St. Joseph, Lakeshore and Berrien Springs school districts are receiving a welcome boost from the state to help pay for pandemic-related expenses.

School districts that didn’t get at least $450 per pupil in federal funding through ESSER II (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief) are receiving separate money from the state’s School Aid Fund (SAF), said Christopher May, a financial specialist with the Michigan Department of Education.
