Beverly I. Orth
Beverly I. Orth, 85, of St. Joseph passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at The Willows Assisted Living.
A celebration of life service will be at 6 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, with the Rev. David Stout officiating. Beverly will be laid to rest next to her husband Dean at Rochester Cemetery in Rochester, Wis. Friends may visit from 5 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Pilgrim Congregational Church UCC-St. Joseph or Caring Circle Hospice. Beverly was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Racine, Wis., to Carl and Ruth (Jensen) Peterson. She was a graduate of Racine County Agricultural High School. On June 7, 1952, she wed Dean Orth in Rochester. Beverly worked as a clerk at Goldblatts and later on at Heath Co. She kept a busy schedule caring for her home and her six children. Beverly was a founding member of Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in St. Joseph as well as a member of the Southwest Michigan Kickers Club and the Jim Beam Bottle Collectors Club and the DANK. Beverly enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. Her true joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Deborah (Donald) Roush of Spring Arbor, Mich., Wendy (George) Whaley of Eau Claire, Mich., Donald (Laurie) Orth of Elkhart, Ind., Marie (Kenyon) Shane of Deland, Fla., Marylea Mitchell of St. Joseph and Paul (Susanne) Orth of Alpharetta, Ga.; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mary and Lloyd Ward of Bloomington, Minn., Larry and Kathy Orth of Appleton, Wis., and Evelyn Peterson of Lake Park, Ga.; aunt, Betty (Richard) Wren of Lafayette, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Dean on March 6, 1974; and siblings: Kenneth Peterson, Earl Peterson, Delores Ratz, Robert Peterson, Duane Peterson and Lois Peterson. Also preceding her in death was her longtime fiancé, Willi Piontek, who was a loving stepfather to her children and wonderful grandfather to her grandchildren.
