Roslyn "Tiny" Hureskin, 62, passed away suddenly Saturday, May 25, 2019, at home in Grand Rapids.
A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, at The Church in Benton Harbor, 224 Pipestone, officiated by the Rev. Albert Adams.
Roslyn was born to Porter Hawthorne and Sarah Hureskin, in Benton Harbor, on April 18, 1957, the third of nine children. She grew up in Benton Harbor. Roslyn was baptized at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. C.L. Woodson. Roslyn attended Benton Harbor area schools. She relocated to Grand Rapids in 1985, where she lived until her passing. Roslyn worked for many years as a CNA for Cascade Living Center, Clark Retirement Community and Comfort Keepers.
Roslyn was known for her ability to have fun and keep you laughing. She loved taking care of the elderly residents at work and spending time with her family, mostly her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her father, Porter Hawthorne Sr. in 1979; and a brother, Donell Hureskin.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her children: Jermaine L. Hureskin, Craig Hureskin and Lakia Hureskin, all of Grand Rapids; two grandsons, Craig (CJ) Hureskin Jr. and Ca Juan Hureskin; three brothers: Gregory (Jacqueline) Hureskin, Porter (Tammy) Hawthorne Jr. and Derrick Hawthorne; 10 sisters: Denise (Charles) Clark, Jeanette Hureskin, Tanya (EL) Wright, Gwendolyn (Willie) Mason, Romona Clark, Kelly (Jimmy) King, Carla (Donald) Hawthorne-Howard, Sonja Hawthorne, Linda Wiley and Robin Franklin; stepmother, Doris Goyette; a special daughter, La Tosha Frost; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; longtime companion, Tommy Brooks; and godsister, Teresa Coates.
