Editor,

The sadly-named Gun Sanctuary Resolution pending before the Berrien County board is void as a matter of federal constitutional law (via the supremacy clause). It should not be treated as a vague, feel-good statement of support for our strong, unthreatened Second Amendment rights. I would urge the commissioners, including David Vollrath, to oppose this dangerous attempt to make our sheriff’s job much harder by encouraging non law-enforcement individuals to tote their guns anywhere at any time for any reason. Catering to the interests of the gun lobby and overzealous individuals – over the safety of Berrien County citizens – makes us look weak, not strong.
