Share your military stories for posterity

Editor,

Lest We Forget is an organization formed to acknowledge and pay respect to military veterans. To that end we have produced several videos and books of short stories about the service of veterans of all branches of the military who have served during wars, conflicts and peacetime. We are currently compiling stories for book number five, and we don’t want to leave anyone out. So we need and want your help in two regards.

If you are or know a veteran, we want your story. The stories are short biographies of time spent in the military, and most are quite short. Some are only a page or two. It’s not unusual for veterans to think their story is insignificant, especially compared to those of highly decorated military personnel. Whenever I hear that, I quickly think of the adage that “an army travels on its stomach.” Without the cooks and supply folks, no military could function. So don’t think that your story need be of something spectacular, because it’s all spectacular in its own way.

Secondly, we have had a minor disaster in that several stories submitted for book five have been lost by us. So if you submitted a story for book five, please contact us so that we can either acknowledge that we still have it or that we need it resubmitted.

You can reach me at jneuman9@gmail.com or 269-921-0437, and I’ll gladly answer your questions and guide you through writing and submitting your story.
