Country can’t afford unlimited immigration

Editor,

Why are the Democrats so afraid of a legitimate wall on our southern border protecting our country from the hordes of illegals? It’s quite obvious they want their votes and total government dependency, eventually leading to socialism.

It’s absolutely ridiculous and destructive to continue the Democrats’ open borders policies. Would Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer leave their household doors open and allow any stranger to walk in and help themselves to a sandwich and beverage without their say? I seriously doubt it. In fact, most open border elitists live in gated communities with security guards. These people are such hypocrites! Their motto must be “Don’t do as I do, but do as I say.”

All the law enforcement people on the border want a real wall, not a fence. They are putting their lives on the line for this country. Being against the wall is totally un-American.

The left is saying the wall won’t work and it’s too expensive. Well, “lo and behold,” walls do work. Just ask Hungary and Israel how well they work. Obviously the Democrats don’t want the wall to work because it’s not in their best interests, so they just keep playing games with the American people. Five billion dollars is too much for the wall, Pelosi and Schumer say, but the $150 billion to bribe Iran during the previous administration was just fine. We can all see how well that turned out.

The Democrats have the media in their back pockets and are better at brainwashing our public than the Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels.

How many illegals can this country support? According to the Democrats, we currently have 21 million illegals in this country, but some government officials believe the number is more like 40 million-45 million. When is enough, enough – 100 million, 150 million?

I myself am a legal immigrant coming to this country from Europe with my parents at age 3. I eventually became a naturalized citizen after my family had to wait in line and jump through all the hoops. We got nothing from the government in terms of monetary benefits or health care, as we had to fend for ourselves. This in turn creates frustration on my part and on the part of many others to continue to see the flow of illegals crossing our borders and making all kinds of demands when they get here.

God bless President Trump in trying to do what’s best for this country. Build the wall and stop this insanity on the part of the Democrats.

Has the president become a Russian agent?

Editor,

Recent news articles have reported that since his election Donald Trump has consistently kept secret the details of his meetings with Vladimir Putin.

One article, in the Washington Post, stated that Trump has “gone to extraordinary lengths to conceal details of his conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, including on at least one occasion taking possession of the notes of his own interpreter and instructing the linguist not to discuss what had transpired with other administration officials, current and former U.S. officials said.” The article further reported that U.S. officials now agree that “…there is no detailed record of Trump’s face-to-face interactions with the Russian leader in five joint meetings over the past two years.”

When viewed against some of the recent actions taken by the Trump administration, the lack of such transparency is alarming. For example, the U.S. Treasury announced on Dec. 20 that it would lift sanctions imposed in April on the core businesses of Oleg Deripaska, a Russian oligarch closely linked to both Vladimir Putin and former Trump campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, who is currently incarcerated awaiting final sentencing for multiple felonies.

With Manafort having been convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion, one cannot help but wonder how tangled this web of deception is and whether Trump’s discussions with Putin touched on removing U.S. sanctions. This question is also raised by the fact that Trump’s initial national security advisor, Michael Flynn, lied to the FBI about his conversations with the Russian ambassador regarding lifting U.S. sanctions against Russians.

Trump has compromised our national security by his actions in relation to Russia. Putin can claim anything he wants, and we have no basis to refute whatever he says, because he is protected by Donald Trump.

Is Donald Trump an agent of Russia? Is he a puppet of Vladimir Putin? These are serious and alarming questions which need to be answered as soon as possible. The U.S. Congress must ensure the Mueller investigation is protected. We, the people, need honest answers.

Government shutdown is causing suffering

Editor,

President Trump, I know you want to build a wall to keep our country safe, but why punish all Americans do do it?

Our people and our economy are suffering while you feel no personal pain yourself. Please consider the American people and remove the shutdown. You are hurting the wrong people, and how safe is that?
