Local coaches are starting to wonder if there will be a high school basketball season after yet another setback.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced updated COVID-19 guidelines from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Friday morning, which extended a ban on contact sports to Feb. 21. The ban was set to expire on Feb. 1, with the MHSAA planning for competition to begin Feb. 4 for basketball, with wrestling and competitive cheer following shortly after.
