NILES — Lakeshore had dominant stretches in Monday's Division 2 volleyball district opener against Dowagiac. Inconsistency hurt the Lancers, however, as the Chieftains were able to come away with a 26-24, 12-25, 25-20, 16-25, 15-7 victory.

"We just defeated ourselves," Lakeshore coach Kat Hall said. "There were little things that we could've done better; instead, we were continuing to play in chaos. (Dowagiac) was very good defensively and they worked really hard. I think that they just worked harder than we did."
