Nature book sale: Nov. 10-11. Members and friends are asked to donate gently used nature books for this event. Books can be field guides, travel guides, informational books, nature adventure books, children’s books, hard or soft cover. No magazines. Books can be dropped off at the nature center anytime.

Fernwood Botanical Gardens
Curious coyotes (wolves): 2-4 p.m. Nov. 10. Although no longer living in this area, wolves are amazing creatures to study. Learn more about the largest members of the canine family. For children ages 6-10. Dress for walking the trails. Cost is $12, $10 for members.
Archaeology and prehistory of Southwest Michigan: 2-3 p.m. Nov. 11. Berrien County has a rich and deep archaeological history, with interesting stories to be shared from the last 15,000 years. Bill Mangold has documented more than 100 sites in the county and conducted research along the route of U.S. 31 before it was constructed. Cost is $10, $8 for members.
Seed propagation of native perennials: 1-2:30 p.m. Nov. 11. Now is the time to start perennial plants from seeds. Learn about the cycle of perennial plant production from seed to garden and hear the best tips on how to successfully grow your old favorites. Register by Nov. 9. Cost is $12, $10 for members.
Nature saplings: 1:30-2:30 p.m. Nov. 15. Children ages 2 1/2-3 1/2, with an adult, can enjoy an introduction to nature. The topic will be animal feet.
Reclaiming our nature contemplative program (fall retreat): 1-4 p.m. Nov. 17. Join meditation teacher and University of Notre Dame research professor, Deirdre Guthrie, for the last of the 2018 seasonal contemplative programs, with this fall session drawing from the falling leaves and changing colors to awaken the senses. Engage with sacred symbols of art, nature, and your own deeply interwoven selves as Deirdre guides you through your inner landscape of well-being.
