Watervliet's boys soccer program has taken a big step forward in its second season. Now the Panthers are hoping to compete for a district title.
Watervliet (10-2) is at Buchanan (3-6) today in the opening round of the Division 3 district hosted by Brandywine. A victory could give the Panthers a home semifinal against South Haven (11-2-1), which earned the top seed using the Michigan Power Rankings formula. Two teams in each district are seeded and placed on opposite side of the bracket. The Rams open against Constantine (0-11-1).
