Local teams are anxious to start the high school basketball season. But more importantly, they’d like to finish it.

The COVID-19 pandemic ended last season’s state basketball tournaments early, and the virus has continued to cause problems. An emergency order paused high school sports on Nov. 16. It was set to expire on Wednesday, but has since been extended to at least Dec. 20
