Time capsule

Benton Harbor’s Bell Opera House became rubble in a 1945 razing. The venue at Sixth Street and Territorial Road opened in 1889. It hosted plays, operas and Vaudeville acts before becoming a movie house. Herald-Palladium files indicate it struggled and fell into disrepair. The scrap steel, iron and copper were contributed to the World War II effort. The site hosts parking for Charlie’s Piggin ‘n’ Grinnin.
